O wind, rend open the heat,
Cut apart the heat,
Rend it to tatters.
Fruit cannot drop
Through this thick air --
Fruit cannot fall into heat
That presses up and blunts
The points of pears
And rounds the grapes.
Cut the heat --
Plough through it,
Turning it on either side
Of your path.

back in April on a fleamarket I bought one of these
for a mere 5,5 Euro1 ( asking price was 6 -- I offered the change I had )

Can you guess what molecule I built first ?

On experimenting with the thing I note that in cyclic organics as far as I know electrons are shared over the whole of a cycle so showing a double binding is a simplification.

  1. currently 1 euro is roughly 1.5 US$ ( more precise conversion at XE)

Edit:
  • black= carbon
  • blue = nitrogen
  • red = oxygen
  • whitish balls = hydrogen

Hi! It's my first time posting here, but definitely not my last. This past week I have been working on my room with the help of my parents, brother, and especially my boyfriend<3 ([info]neonosferous). We painted the walls and I bought new furniture. My old room felt extremely small and cluttered cus I had a master bedroom set. Plus, i had nothing on my walls except empty shelves :/  But for now, I'm in the process of re-decorating my room so I'll definitely be back! :D I have before and after pictures too. Hope you enjoy!! (image heavy!)

I don't know if anyone is interested but I just collected some quotes from the documentary The 11th Hour, link. I saved them for myself so I thought I would go ahead & post them up here. They are really long but they make you think. If you haven't seen the film, I definitely recommend it!

5/11/08 11:31 pm - [info]reinvent_love posting in [info]ourbedrooms - I went a little crazy....

Heya!

So in the past 3 weeks I've completely redone my room. It started off with a desire for a green wall (which was more work than I anticipated becauce I had to move the mural to another wall and well....don't use sticky stuff on walls. JUST DON'T.) So after 3 weeks and about 300 dollars (my tax refund at work LOL) I've come up with just about the most awesome room/bathroom I've ever had.

My camera sucks so please don't mind the mediocre pictures. They get the point across!
VERY Image Heavy!

btw, I'm Ashley, I'm 23 and I live in VA, if that matters at all to you :D
I hope you like green! )

5/11/08 07:45 pm - [info]xwarpathx posting in [info]lomography - well, CVS screwed up my first Holga roll.

thanks for all your guys help from my previous post. im using a holga 35mm black corner camera and the inside film roll bends the film a certain way. and they tore my film trying to get it out of the canister, so i guess from now on im gunna be taping it to the roll inside the camera.
here is the best shot from the holga roll...

the rest are from my fisheye.

On Saturday, I visited a vintage thrift store in downtown Lakeland with a couple of friends. It was more pricey than Goodwill or the Salvation Army, however the atmosphere made up for it. The woman and her daughter, who I presume owned the shop, sold papers from Italy and even a turn-of-the-century mannequin. Furniture, soaps (new of course), and even light fixtures. It was quite unique. What I bought was an $11 apron. My friend bought several things for his mother for Mother's Day, but I decided to get this for a friend of mine instead.

By the way, that person is my mom. Definitely not me. Hahahahaha.

Front view. See the two pockets? They're on both sides, which I think is nifty because you can't put it on the wrong way.

My mom thinks it's from the 50's or 60's because of the bizarre pattern.

Thanks! :]

BEGGAR: He leaned against it, very close, felt the life inside it or thought he felt it, and said: you are higher than I, and you stand firm, and you know the earth below, and it holds you up. I can run and move better, but I don't stand firm and cannot go below and nothing holds me up. The great stillness above the treetops in the infinite sky is unknown to me.
GOOGOO: What did the tree say?
BEGGAR: Yes. The wind blew. A tremor ran through the tree. The man felt it. So he threw himself down, embraced the wild, hard roots, and wept bitter tears. But he did that with many trees.
GOOGOO: Did he get better?
BEGGAR: No. But he died more easily.

That night Máximo was too tired to sit at the pine table. He didn't even prepare dinner. He slept, and in his dreams he was a green and yellow fish swimming in warm waters, gliding through the coral, the only fish in the sea and he was happy. But the light changed and the sea darkened and suddenly and he was rising through it, afraid of breaking the surface, afraid of the pinhole sun on the other side, afraid of drowning in the blue vault of the sky.

Hi everyone. I just recently rearraged my room to try to make it more open and just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
I used an online room planner to give you a good idea of the layout. Measurements/size of furniture is fairly accurate.

5/11/08 07:42 pm - [info]burlymanvagina posting in [info]lomography - Freakin stupid question

OK, this is SO retarded, but for some reason I'm not understanding how to unload the film from the Holga when it's finished.  I think the main thing I'm not getting is that the booklet says to move the empty spool from the left side to the right side....but how did it get to the left side in the first place?  Obviously, I have no idea how a film camera works, so I'm not understanding this phenomenon...

Also, am I supposed to put the film into a canister or something before I take it to the lab?

I would really appreciate it if someone wouldn't mind listing the steps of the film-unloading process in simple terms fit for 2nd graders, because apparently that's where my IQ level is right now.

Thanks :/
